According to our testing, it will make your glove more slippery. But if you have a match or you want a better grip then it’s better not to use it in any condition.

So, the olive oil is a great way to keep your glove darker or you want to use it as a break-in method for newer or older gloves.

How To Break In A Glove With Olive Oil?

Any baseball player will tell you that having a premium baseball glove is essential for any game. A well-made glove will help you to catch the ball more effectively and prevent injuries.

However, there is always one disadvantage of having a new glove is they have to pass the break-in period in order to make them ready to play quickly.

We all know that if you didn’t do the break-in process then the glove will be stiff and uncomfortable, making it difficult to use. One way to break in a new baseball glove is to rub it down with olive oil.

The oil helps to soften the leather and makes it more pliable. In addition, olive oil helps to repel water, which can keep your glove in good condition for a longer period of time. 

To break in your glove, simply rub a small amount of olive oil into the leather and work it into all the nooks and crannies. Then, wrap your glove in a towel and leave it overnight.

Steps By Step To Break In A Glove With Olive Oil?

• Take some of the olive oil on a soft cloth.
• Gently rub the oil into the leather of the baseball glove.
• You don’t need to rub anything inside of the glove.
• Wipe away any excess oil with a clean cloth.
• Now take another clean cloth and gently buff the leather.
• This will help the leather to get softness.
• Once you’ve buffed the leather, put your baseball glove on and form it into the shape you want.
• You can do this by holding the ball in your hand and working the glove around it.
• Leave the glove on for at least 12 hours to get it completely dry.
• Now your baseball glove should be soft, supple, and ready to use.

Can I Use Coconut Oil Instead Of Olive Oil?

If you want to damage your baseball glove completely then it’s better to use coconut oil instead of olive oil. We took the cheapest baseball glove available on the market and rubbed coconut oil for testing purposes.

But coconut oil not only damaged the outer layer of the glove but also the wetness of the oil didn’t go away even we put the glove for a drying process for 6 days.

Still, we don’t recommend you to use olive oil on your baseball glove. But if you don’t have any other option then use it carefully by following the above steps.

Many people suggest not to use it as it will only damage the product. But that’s not the true story using olive oil will not damage your glove.
